World Of WarcraftNever have I experienced a feeling of rightness when playing a game. World of Warcraft is one of those little, rare gems of pure gaming glory that people all over the world will never forget. It's just in a whole different world when compared to anything even remotely like it.
The story is simple: Set just after the events of Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft allows you to create a character, whether they be male or female, Horde or Alliance, Human, Night Elf or Orc, and live in the world of Azeroth. And then, the game lets you loose. WOW is a never ending game - sure, theres quests to be done, but thats not it. There are millions of quests offered by thousands of NPC's, which would take any person a whole lifetime to finish, and then some. But of course, theres more: Level up, get a mount, set up guilds and shops, make a living - or die trying, or battle your enemies from across the world.
And it doesn't finish there. You see, if this was any other run of the mill fantasy MMORPG, it would finish here. But Blizzard want to get a perfect score with this, and they haven't just got to this point, they've taken a hippogriff and flown over it. World of Warcraft allows you take the fight to the other side, because Azeroth is essentially 2 worlds in one - The Alliance World, where law and goodwill rule the lands, and the Horde world, a place of dark evils and ungodly power. However, players can turn the tide and change the equal balnces of the two sides by going to war. Either side can invade the others territory, attacking their cities and pillaging the lands. But it isn't some computer generated characters doing this. It's the players from across the world, shaping and changing the land as they see fit.
Because thats people sign up for. To be part of something that is fantastically life changing.
