PC Game Reviews: Dungeon Siege II

Dungeon Siege II
Diablo was the thing for me. I had tried many similar games but none of them was as good in my opinion. After playing DSII for a while I slowly started shifting my fandom. Really big scenery, although still a bit linear areas, with some optional ways of traversing, and some really huge and 'living' areas. Oh my. Well, the game obviously needs a bit of hardware but it doesn't seem as too much, since it looks quite beautiful and still works fine on my computer.

Spoken and written dialogue. Astonishing intro-movies. An easy-to-learn-and-even-easier-to-use interface. Oh my, this seems good. Also one thing worth mentioning is the loading times. There are none. Well ofcourse there are some when starting the game or loading a saved game, but they are really fast. Also, when you're traversing the overworld and enter a new area, the game doesn't throw you into a loading screen. You immediately enter the area and the game seems to use some kind of streaming technology so that most of the time you wouldn't even notice the change of area if it weren't for the text which tells you that you've entered a new place. Ofcourse I don't mean that the textures and other graphical wassitsnames are so simple that the areas don't have any notable differences. It isn't so. The graphics are wonderful and living. The first chapters of the game take place in a dryad jungle, and the jungle actually looks like a jungle. There are varying texture types, elevations and even bridges running through deep gorges. Caves are also present, and all kinds of new, wonderful things to explore and use. There are baskets you can loot and barrels to break. What more could an adventurer ask for?

One thing that maybe made me raise an eyebrow a bit was the fact that the game offers only four different character types to play. Human/Dryad/Giant/Elf(or was it half-elf). Your character is mildly customizable, you can change the face, skin-colour, hairstyle and -colour and ofcourse the name. One nice thing present in the game is the fact of reality considering equipment. The equipment looks well done in the inventory/shop windows and when you wear a dryad armor, it actually looks like a dryad armor on your character. Same goes for weapons.

Battles are done in a Diablo-styled point-click-bash style, which isn't bad. You can choose what attack your character(s) use when attacking so depending on your choice the result varies. One of the ideal settings is to have two characters plus yourself in the party. One is melee (runs up at the enemy to intercept and bash them), one is ranged (giving powerful support to the figher without being in the middle of the massacre), and then a spellcaster, which can act as a sort of...artillery, heh.

But alas, time is running short and I soon have to go to school, so enough ranting for now. P-L-A-Y this game if you're a diablo-fan. Play it if RP-games are your thing.Play it if you want to experience something really good.
A nice day for you and more games for me.

(I was so dumb that I actually posted this as a comment at first...was too eager to write so didn't check things up :>)
