GameCube Game Reviews: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
This game reminds me of a medieval Advance Tactics. The animation and graphics are very simple, especially by todays standards, the storyline is simple and basic, but somehow this game is still really fun to play. You start off as a young boy training to become a mercenary. This approach gives the basics of battle and gameplay. Unlike traditional turn based games, this turn based style allows you to position and attack over a grid view of the battle area. After you become a full fledge mercenary, you are recruited to battle a town infested with bad guys. After their defeat, you are called to fight again, and so on. The sound is decent but one of my biggest pet peeves right now is having to read dialog between characters. People! We live in a world where there is enough memory to have spoken dialog, reading dialog is so...2 years ago. So anyway, as far as the graphics go, it's a cartoon shaded game, with anime like characters which I find pretty cool. But for as simple a game as this is, I feel they could have done a lot better with the graphics. The gameplay is quite fun and really lends itself to using you allies strategically versus just hit him with the biggest baddest guy you have. You level, get armor, magic, etc just like a traditional RPG, but without the headache of always having to equip everything before you can use it. In this game, you can equip a weapon during battle time right before you use it, and that I like very much. I highly recommend this game to all those who liked Advance Tactics and games of the like, it's just...fun.
