Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The EarthCall of Cthulhu is a very sick and morbid view into the world of H.P. Lovecraft, which naturally means I thought it was great. This game is dark, very much in the way that the Silent Hill franchise is but with a completely different approach to the gameplay. The game plays like a combiniation between a first person shooter and one of the Zork games of old. You navigate the world in the same manner as you would an FPS game, but you interact with objects in a way very similar to the old text based adventure or point and click games. You examine objects, place objects in their right locations, solve little puzzles..and oh yeah, blast the crap out of monsters along the way. The graphics are pretty good, good enough to give you a good sense of the macabre atomosphere with a few unique twists when it comes to going insane, which happens from time to time in this game. The sound is good as are the voice overs, not great, but good. This game is mostly focused on the storyline of the game and the emotion created during the gameplay. The storyline starts off with you playing the role of an investigator brought in to talk to a member of a cult. But from that point on, it's all sick. As you attempt to meet with the cult member, gunshots ring out and you run for the house. Inside the house you find an assortment of mutilated bodies and other artifacts which begin to make your character mentally ill. As you progress further through the house, you eventually make your way to the basement. Which, has been converted into a makeshift lab if you will. What you find down here is just wrong...I don't want to ruin it for you so I'll just say this, it drives your character insane and you end up in a mental hospital. I found this game to be very imaginative and a very cool play. If your into the sick and twisted or like games along the lines of Silent Hill, you're going to like this game.
