RF OnlineRF Online at first looks to be an exciting MMORPG, but as soon as you begin playing you soon realize they have quite a way to go before this title becomes ready for hardcore gamers. Let's start with the control system, I found the controls to be cumbersome and clunky, you have to hit thye h button on your keyboard to toggle between mouse mode and keyboard mode, and while doing that, you will occaisonally loose track of what mode you're in. Having to switch between keyboard and mouse modes in a game is pretty lame. Next let's talk about the combat system, this actually wasn't too bad...but still not very good. Once you have selected an opponent to attack, you have to either repeatedly hit the attack button or hold the attack button down. Your character will not automatically attack repeatedly like they do in games like GuildWars and Final Fantasy Online. Next, the quest driven system...this was decent, although it didn't give you a real sence of being on a quest, more like...ok here, get out of my face....go do something with yourself. The graphics ranged from ok to decent, but never breathtaking or even the occaisonal...hey that's neat. I was not impressed graphically at all. The sound was ok, but didn't really seem to go with the game very well. One of the things I thought was very cool at first but later turned out to be a let down was the head of your character following you mouse. Wherever you moved your mouse, your characters head would look, which at first was very cool, because with this you could do all kinds of head gestures like...what's up...and shake your head for a ... no no...but as soon as you start talking to other characters you realize, they can't see your head move at all. Which totally defeats the purpose of even having that. Next the chat system and emote system. The chat is ok...doesn't really adhere to any system out there but it works...the emotes don't exist in the chat window. You can't do things like /wave or /sit, instead you have to open your character window and create a shortcut to the action of sit or stand. All in all, this game isn't worth a subscription fee to me at all, if this game were released in the same fashion that GuildWars was released I might be a little inclined to play it, but as it is now I highly suggest you save your money. This game is not very impressive in any way.
