DS Game Reviews: Super Monkey Ball: Touch and Roll

Super Monkey Ball: Touch and Roll
In February 2006, possibly the most frustrating game in history, Super Monkey Ball: Touch and Roll was released for sale in the UK. As a huge fan of its Gamecube counterparts, I snatched this game off the shelves as soon as it came out!! So, onto the game. After selecting campaign mode, to which there is no story line, you are greeted by four familiar characters: Aiai, Mimi, Baby and Gongon. After coming to grips with the absurdity of the names, and the temptation to seek out and kill the game creators, you are faced with your first maze. The campaign mode consists of many maze-style, "beat the clock" challenges, where players roll their ball from start to finish, trying to stay on course and avoid countless hazards that can, and most of the time will, cause you to plummet off the edge. Players don't necessarily take control of the ball - instead, they tilt the environment to cause the Monkey Ball to roll down the incline created by the tilting. The graphics are superb but It takes a steady hand, keen eye and excessively bored person to get through many of these rolling mazes. But when your fed up of failure, you can always try your luck on the mini-games. In my opinion this is what really makes the game for me. There’s: air hockey, monkey golf, monkey wars, monkey bowling, monkey race and monkey fight. Ludicrous challenges to excite the feeblest of minds. You can have so much fun playing friends over wi-fi, it’s unbelievable!

So, monkeys in balls? Its all good, go buy it now!
