XBox 360 Game Reviews: Project Gotham Racing 3

Project Gotham Racing 3This version of Project Gotham is without a doubt the most visually stunning, but still lacks what made the original so much fun to play. The first Project Gotham was a great game because of a few important factors. The first being the racing controls, drifting, e-brake, etc. The second being the, not just a racing game, but also earning style (kudos) points factor. The third, which seems to have been lost for two titles is the music along with the DJs. This third factor has been overlooked twice now, and although it does not seem that important, it really does make a difference in the feel of the game. With the first Project Gotham, which had different DJs as you travelled around the world, the player really had the feeling of not only being in a different country, but more importantly not being alone. Aside from that aspect, this game is a great racing title and a good platform launch game for the XBox 360. Another drawback to PGR3 is the slow loading time between races and restarts. It takes just as long to load and race a new track as it does to restart the same track. This gets old real quick. If you can look past the tedious loading time, then you'll probably enjoy this title. There are plenty of new unlockable cars, tracks and modes to keep the PGR fans happy. The graphics in this game truly are amazing, all the way down to the reflection in the bumpers. The developers of PGR have also done quite a bit with the camera race modes as well. You can now have the camera two levels above the car, one view directly out of the helmet of the driver, and two views at the front of the car. The music in this game is decent, but as stated before, there are still no DJs. I recommend this game to all fans of PGR, and to people who have a lot of patience. Everyone else might want to find another racing game.
