XBox Game Reviews: Ninja Gaiden: Black

Ninja Gaiden: Black
This game is a great successor to the previous title. Just some quick advice on this one, read the manual first. This game has so many moves that if you start playing without knowing the moves ahead of time, you'll make life a lot harder for yourself. This game is hard enough even knowing the moves. The gameplay is very much like Onimusha. Multiple enimies, watch your back, block a lot and try to kill before being killed. This gameplay is quite good once you master the moves of a weapon, but just when you do that...you find a new weapon with a whole new set of moves to learn. This is one of those games where you find items and weapons to help power you up as well as collect things from downed enemies for exchange, life and magic power...very much like Onimusha. The storyline is adequate, not fantastic and the voice overs are...no good, lets just put it that way. But the graphics are great and the sound is decent. This game just like almost all the previous Ninja Gaidens is all about the gameplay. One of the more frusterating aspects of this game is the save at a save spot routine, which means you're going to be fighting a lot of the same enemies over again if you die. Which on this game I'm sad to admit, happens constantly. It's a great challenging game with plenty of moves, puzzles and power-ups to keep players interested until the end. I recommend this game to hardcore gamers familiar with games along the lines of Onimusha, Devil May Cry and Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.
