Dragon Soldier - World of Revolution
-Gameplay----------------
Those who have played browser-based games before, will probably feel like home when playing WOR, for it resembles many other browser-based games out there. Every player can choose from various actions to do in the game, all aiming towards the über goal of developing your character (avatar, if you may) to a heightened stage of power, and ultimate domination over other players by means of financial dominance or combat supremacy. Well, this might sound harsh to other players that play the game but in the end, it all sums up to being richer, and more powerful than your fellow player - but then again, isn't it always about that? There is no survival without competition or better yet, there is no glory without victory.

So, after you sign up and fight around a bit, you'll reach League Level 5 at some time, and then you'll be able to choose your breed (while writing this review there were 6 breeds available), all with different attributes, varying in Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Dexterity, Health, Magic, and the elemental powers, Fire, Water, Earth and Wind. All attributes have different effects on the character, influencing how the character acts in battle and what Auras he or she may use. Now you're probably wondering what Auras are. Well, the easiest way to describe them would probably by comparing them to Spells which have different effects. Some of the Auras affect the user, the character that activates them and others affect the opponent of the user, whenever the user decides to attack someone. Some Auras affect basic Attributes, like for example Strength and Intelligence, other Auras affect special Attributes; They can add a certain percentage to the damage you do in combat, decrease the damage your opponent does, add the amount of BattlePoints (I'll talk about this later, for now it'll suffice if you think of it as a sort of Experience Points) you gain from a victorious battle, or maybe enhance the amount of HealthPoints you gain per combat turn. Different Auras are available to different breeds, and some Aura's have elemental requirements, read further to find out about them.

When you initiate combat with another player, a small new window is opened, and in that window you'll see the actions you and your opponent take during the fight. Different actions are shown in different colours - a normal attack done by you is stated in green text, as a normal attack done by your opponent is stated in red text. The different colours and their associations are easy to learn - you'll remember after a few fights.

The fights are fought in turns, and their order depends on your and your opponent's speed modifyers. The faster one gets to attack before the slower one - logical, isn't it? An opponent doesn't need to be online for you to able to challenge him or her, since fights do not require players to take any other actions than just to start them, the system used for fighting is automatic and the outcome depends on your and your opponent's different attributes. One thing that can help change the outcome of a battle, is a pet. Yes, you can actually have pets in this game. Powerful pets can heal you and do additional damage on your opponent but pets do not always appear in fights, nor can you choose to use or not to use them in a battle. While writing this review, there were four different species of pets available; A Lizard, a Puppy, a Kitten and a Reindeer. All species of pets have their own Power and Speed ratings. The more power your pet has, the more damage it will do and the more speed it has, the more frequently it appears during a battle, and if its speed is high enough, it might execute a combo attack, resulting in more than one attack during one turn.

A successful fight earns you spoils of war. You win a fight if your opponent's HealthPoints reach 0 (zero) before your's do. A victorious battle earns you an amount of Gold, Tickets, Battle Points and if your pet took part in the battle, it earns Experience Points.

Battle Points are your characters experience points. Accumulating enough of them let's you better yourself by "buying" Ability points, Elemental Points, Health, Max. Magic, or Tradeskills, which enable you to do various tasks or help you succeed in some. Ability Points are used to better your basic attributes, for example Strength or Dexterity, and Elemental Points are used to better your Fire/Water/Earth/Wind power. Some Auras become available only when you meet the elemental power requirements for those Auras.

Gold is one of the three valuable main commodities you can gather up in Dragon soldier: World of Revolution. With gold you can buy new equipment or buy minerals and insert them in your equipment, resulting in more effective and enhanced equipment, like weapons that do even more damage than before or armour that makes you heal faster. Wearing/using your equipment uses the extra ability that enhanced equipment gives you (for example Health Regeneration +3 points per combat turn), and those abilities can not be depleted. Also, the effect of equipment is cumulative, meaning that if you have two bracers equipped and both give you a +2 Health Regeneration bonus, you'll receive a total of +4 bonus to your Health Regeneration.

Tickets can be traded in-game for various things, like Gold and Platinum, and a few more special treats...

The Experience Points your pet gains after taking part in a victorious battle, will eventually level up your pet, giving you a point to add to your pet's abilities, either Power or Speed.

The amount of things you gain after a successful battle depends on your opponent's strength, power in comparison to yours. Also his or her League Level will affect the amount of spoils you gain from the battle - the higher the level in comparison to yours, the greater the gain.
Every player has a Power rating that is calculated by the character's basic attributes and a few other values.

League Levels are a form of status you can gain. You will gain a level if you battle (and win) enough players with higher League Levels than yours, and if a player with a lower League Level wins you in battle, he or she might climb to your level and you'll fall to his or her level. It's also possible to Sleep in an Inn in the game, resulting in 24hours of time during which no one can attack you - but you can't attack anyone either. Sleeping in the Inn isn't free.

Most actions in the game (other than the most special ones, like Fishing) require that you have usable turns available. There are many things in the game which can't be done if you don't have turns available, consider your turns as fuel - if you run out of it you'll have to wait for it to replenish. Or maybe think of some other way - like voting to replenish it.
